Professor Andrea Doeschl-Wilson from the Roslin Institute, Univ of Edinburgh, was appointed as Wallenberg Professor in genetic-epidemiology in 2021, and currently a guest professor at the Dept of Animal Bioscience at SLU. Before she returns to Scotland, the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry (KSLA) has the pleasure to host this lecture moderated by professor Ulf Emanuelson, SLU.
This seminar focuses on ways forward to reduce inappropriate use of antibiotics in animal production. Cooperation built on responsibility and transparency between different sectors in society – business, retailers, authorities, policy and science, is needed. And also, structural changes in farming systems. Farmers as well as consumers must be offered increased knowledge and skills.
The Nordic countries face similar – but not always identical – challenges, including education, in the labour market and the working milieu for today’s veterinarians. Stakeholders in the region are invited to meet and exchange experiences and discuss solutions in this webinar in KSLA and Zoom.
