Rhetoric Reverberation of A Story and Instead of sound opening 5 November

Eva Rocco Kenell's MFA exhibition Rhetoric Reverberation of A Story examines the classical narratives and the possibilities of braking them down. By telling a story without a protagonist or a narrator and by showing  side-tracks instead of a core story, the work takes on a shape of a circular narrative.

It follows leads that ends up in nothing and tries to untangle and target a story that contains multiple branches and questions about truth, gentrification, identity and freedom of movement.

I ljud möts tiden och rummet. När ljud fyller rum ger det indikationer på vad som är på avstånd och vad som är nära. Det beskriver materialen och densiteten och rymden. Det ger en direkt inre förståelse av världen, en stämning. En ton kan göra att det kittlar till någonstans i ens inre och vissa ljud kan fylla hela ens varelse med vibrationer, med känslor, som ibland kan beskrivas med ord. Men när orden inte finns så finns i alla fall ljudet.

Och ljud tar tid. Det dyker upp, det hänger kvar, det ebbar ut. Det flödar genom en serie ögonblick. En hel rad av nu, nu, nu, nu. Där det förflutna möter det som ska bli.

På engelska har ordet för ljud, sound, dubbla betydelser. Sound kan också vara någonting stabilt, intakt och robust. Vilket kan kännas motsägelsefullt just eftersom ljud, i sin rörelse genom tiden och rummet, är allt annat än konstant. 

Eva Rocco Kenell (b 1982) studies her last year at the Master's programme in Fine Art at Konstfack. Her work mainly consists of video installations and are positioned in the borderland of reality and fiction.

Malena Norlin (b 1983) is currently studying her last year at Fine Art, Konstfack. Her practice is material based and she explores spatiality through sculpture.

Opening on Wednesday 5 November, 5 – 8 pm at K1 and Galleri Konstfack LM Ericssons väg 14/Dialoggatan 7, Telefonplan.

The exhibitions are open until Sunday 9 November, weekdays 3 – 6 pm, weekend 1 – 4 pm. Welcome!
