The Bäckman’s selected for the Swedish National Team

Today it was announced that Andreas and Jessica Bäckman from Sweden has been selected as two of the drivers that will join the Swedish National Team for car racing in 2020. The main purpose with the National Team is to develop drivers in car racing and to give them as many tools as possible to succeed.
– This is a fantastic opportunity for us to continue our development in car racing and we are extremely proud to be joining the National Team, says Andreas Bäckman.

Today, the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation announced its National Team drivers for 2020. Among all the talented drivers across the country, the siblings Andreas and Jessica Bäckman from the North of Sweden were among the names of the selected drivers.

– This is a fantastic opportunity for us to continue our development in car racing and we are extremely proud to be join the National Team, says Andreas Bäckman.

Joining the senior and junior teams
Andreas and Jessica will thus be the first from their county to join the National Team’s investment in young and promising talents. Andreas will be part of the senior team, the Sweden National Team, and Jessica will part of the junior team, the Sweden Junior Team.
 

              
 

– It feels great to get this opportunity, it is an important piece in the puzzle for us to continue our path towards competing in the World Cup. Joining the National Team will help us develop as drivers and everything that comes with being an elite racing driver, says Jessica Bäckman.
 

Investing in promising talents
The new National Team captain Pier Steffansson is looking forward to his new role and getting to work with Andreas and Jessica:

– Andreas and Jessica have shown that the big picture is there to come a long way in their careers. Getting the opportunity to work with them in the National Team during the 2020 season is inspiring and I’m looking forward to a developing and successful season, says Pier Steffansson.

Andreas and Jessica are looking forward to being able to develop more on all levels in 2020 and they are hoping to become more complete as drivers with the help of this program:

– To be a driver on an elite level, it requires a lot more than just being a fast driver out on the racetrack, it requires a good physical condition, good nutrition, being good in front of the media, and much more, says Andreas Bäckman.

De har genom åren tävlat i stora förarmästerskap som STCC, Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, och den brittiska motsvarigheten TCR UK, med fantastiska framgångar som resultat. Under 2019 tävlar syskonen i prestigefyllda TCR Europe tillsammans med det flerfaldigt prisbelönta, italienska teamet Target Competition. Syskonens tävlingsbilar är varsin Hyundai i30 N TCR.

The racing siblings Andreas and Jessica Bäckman started their racing careers as 9 and 7 years old. They have during the years been competing in big championships like STCC, Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, and the British counterpart TCR UK, with fantastic success as results. During 2019 the sibilings are competing in the prestigious TCR Europe together with the multiple award winning Italian team Target Competition. The siblings racecars are Hyundai i30 N TCR.

Bäckman's selected for the National Team for the second year in a row

Today it was announced that the Bäckman siblings Andreas and Jessica Bäckman from Sweden has been selected to the Swedish National Team for car racing for the second consecutive year. ​- This is a great opportunity for us to continue our development as racing drivers and we are extremely proud to once again be part of the Swedish National Team this season, Andreas Bäckman says.

Bäckman’s begins the season with a start in TCR Germany

This weekend, August 14th-16th, Andreas and Jessica Bäckman joins the ADAC TCR Germany series with team Target Competition in Hyundai i30 N TCR cars. This is to make the final preparations for their main goal of the year, the TCR Europe Championship, which has the season start next weekend, August 21st-23rd at the Paul Ricard track in France.
