Invest Swedens Director General Per-Erik Sandlund new board member of the Medical Products Agency

The Swedish government has appointed three new board members to the Medical Products Agency. In addition to Per-Erik Sandlund the other two board members are Kerstin Hulter Åsberg, associate professor and chief physician, and Per Matses, CFO.

– The Medical Products Agency is one of Sweden’s most important agencies with a good reputation internationally. I hope to bring experience and knowhow from the industry and promote the competence of the Medical Products Agency to the international investors that cooperate with Invest Sweden, says Per-Erik Sandlund.

Previously Per-Erik Sandlund was the CEO for SwedenBIO – the national trade organization for biotech companies in Sweden as well as CEO for GE Healthcare Life and Amersham Biosciences in Sweden. In total he has more than thirty years of experience from international business in life science, construction and engineering.

– It is with great pleasure that I note the fact that we get important competence and experiences from healthcare, research and industry, says Mats Larson, Chairman of the board.

The Medical Products Agency is since 2008 an agency headed by a lay board. The board decides on overall priorities, action plan, rules of procedure and regulations.

Previously the board consists of Mats Larson (Chairman), Professor Kjell Asplund, former Director General of the National Board of Health and Welfare, Pharmacy Doctor Märit Johansson, CEO of Karolinska Institutet Science Park and the Director General of the Medical Products Agency, Christina Åkerman.
