FireCast OS 4.5 uppdaterad 2009-01-21 Översikt.

We just released a major upgrade to FireCast OS, our playback software for kiosks and digital signs. FireCast OS 4.5 introduces the long-awaited support for Flash 9 content, along with drivers for lots of newer hardware.

New hardware supported

• Newer motherboards and other core hardware (including chipsets designed for the Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Atom processors, as well as newer AMD processors)
• More wireless cards for 802.11b/g/n networks. This includes cards based on Atheros chipsets, Broadcom chipsets (4311, 4312, 4321 and 4322 series, plus some 4328 models), and Ralink chipsets. We recommend using PCI, mini PCI, or PCI Express cards. Some USB wireless adapters are supported, but typically aren't as reliable.
• More USB cellular modems
• More laser printers and inkjet printers
• Newer models of the IBM Anyplace Kiosk

New features added

• Flash 9 (official version from Adobe)
• Ability to rotate the screen with ATI and Intel video cards (previously, this was limited to Nvidia and Matrox cards)
• Improved detection of widescreen monitors
• The ticker can display pictures and long descriptions when these are present in the RSS feed
• Improved printing software automatically selects the correct make, model, driver, and IP address for most printers
• Faster switching from one content file to the next
