The travel magazine FREEDOMtravel nominated for "Golden Pen Media Awards" in Croatia

For the 18th time, the Croatian National Tourist Board has awarded the "Golden Pen Media Awards" to journalists and bloggers, for the best articles and posts about Croatia as a tourist destination. This year, the Swedish digital travel magazine FREEDOMtravel was nominated for the award, and on May 27 it was time for the award ceremony in Split.

The Golden Pen Media Awards are awarded annually by the Croatian National Tourist Board, in three categories:

• Article in print or online media

• Radio or TV reporting

• Blog or social media

This year, 2022, 17 journalists and bloggers from a total of 14 countries were nominated and invited to the award ceremony, which took place in the Croatian coastal city of Split. The international group was shown around for three days, with guided tours in Split, to the island of Brač and to Sinj in the inland of Dalmatia. Finally, the award ceremony and outdoor party were held at the beautiful Meštrović Gallery in Split.

Nomination for the Swedish travel magazine FREEDOMtravel

As the only representative of the Nordic region, the Swedish digital travel magazine FREEDOMtravel was nominated for the article "National parks in Croatia - 8 wonderful places", in the category "blog or social media". This is the second time FREEDOMtravel has been nominated for this great award. The first time was in 2016, when the nomination concerned a series of blog posts from a longer camper trip through Croatia.

Peter and Helena Bergström from FREEDOMtravel are currently on a long journey in Central Europe with their camper. To be able to participate in the ceremony, they parked the camper at the airport in Leipzig, Germany, to fly to and from Croatia, and then be able to continue the camper journey in Germany.

The first prize in the three categories went to Hungary (print or online media), Italy (radio or TV reportage) and Switzerland (blog or social media). Peter and Helena from FREEDOMtravel are very happy and proud to have been nominated for this great award.
