FREEDOMtravel has appointed "Destination of the Year Sweden" and "Destination of the Year Europe" 2023

The digital travel magazine FREEDOMtravel every year appoint "Destination of the Year Sweden" and "Destination of the Year Europe" - to destinations that offer unique sights and experiences, and where you feel welcome with a camping vehicle. This year's winners are Gränna in Sweden and Děčín in the Czech Republic.

Award ceremony at Elmia Caravan Show 2023

"Destination of the Year 2023" was awarded by the digital travel magazine FREEDOMtravel, at the fair Elmia Caravan Show 2023. The prize was awarded on stage at The Destination Square, where the prize winners received a diploma with motivation and a glass statuette formed as a camper.

Destination of the Year Sweden 2023: Gränna

"Destination of the Year Sweden 2023" was awarded to Gränna, and the award was recieved by Sofia Petersson and Lova Roman from Gränna business association. Gränna is a cozy place by Lake Vättern where you can taste traditional candy sticks, learn more about Andrée's polar expedition, go on magical boat trips on Lake Bunn, discover Västanå nature reserve and charming Röttle village or maybe take a boat trip to idyllic Visingsö. The motivation: "Offering a wonderful destination for motorhome travelers. You find charming environments and beautiful nature, as well as museums, cultural experiences and boat trips. When travelling with a camper you feel welcome, and it’s easy to find campsites and overnight stops.”

Destination of the Year Europé 2023: Děčín in the Czech Republic

"Destination of the Year Europe 2023" was awarded to the city of Děčín in the north-west of the Czech Republic, and the award was recieved by Susanne De Mello from the Czech Tourist Board. The river Labe (Elbe) runs through the city and there are nice restaurants and a beautiful castle. The city is surrounded by fantastic and spectacular nature with dramatic mountain formations. Here you can visit Tisá (filming location for Narnia), hiking tours in Bohemian Switzerland and lovely boat trips on the river.

The motivation: "Offering a wonderful destination for motorhome travelers. In Děčín you can experience city life and boat excursions as well as hiking, canoeing and climbing. A central campsite serves as the perfect starting point for adventures.”

The "Destination of the Year" prize is awarded every year, starting in 2022, by the digital travel magazine FREEDOMtravel. The aim is to highlight destinations that have a lot to offer visitors traveling by camper or caravan.
