Flower Launches Flower Hub – Creates New Passive Income Source for Homeowners

The energy tech company Flower is expanding its offerings and targeting the residential market. With the new Flower Hub service, homeowners with battery systems can contribute to a more sustainable energy system while earning money. The launch comes shortly after the Swedish Tax Agency's decision to approve deductions for green technology. "The need for a solution like this is enormous," says John Diklev, founder and CEO of Flower.

Flower, Sweden's leading optimizer of battery systems, is launching Flower Hub — a smart battery optimization service that gives homeowners with battery systems the opportunity to earn extra money from their energy, while also contributing to a greener society. The launch is timely, following the recent decision by the Swedish Tax Agency to once again grant deductions for solar panels and batteries used for ancillary services.

"Flower Hub is a major initiative on our part to address a long-standing industry need. The technical tests for the product have already been approved by the Swedish TSO Svenska Kraftnät, and the service will be gradually rolled out this fall through our initial distributors, Senergia and KP Energy," says John Diklev, founder and CEO of Flower.

With Flower Hub, homeowners gain access to a new passive income source by allowing Flower to optimize their battery system. The battery is connected to Flower's optimization platform via a device as small as an iPhone, where it helps stabilize the energy system, reduce volatility, and enable the transition to more green energy in society. Flower is also committed to ensuring that the service runs seamlessly for the user.

"We will focus on a quality-assured launch this fall, with continuous evaluation of all installations. Flower Hub is an incredibly smart and simple solution to a much larger societal challenge. Most people have probably read about the need for more flexibility in the electricity grid, as volatility has been a major challenge with the introduction of renewable energy sources," says John Diklev.

With the introduction of wind and solar power into the electricity system, it is becoming increasingly difficult to match production and consumption — a balance that is fundamental to a stable electricity system. However, this development can be addressed with the right technology.

"The technology that exists and the resources now available have the potential to fundamentally change the entire energy system, which is incredibly exciting. With battery solutions like Flower Hub, we will be able to provide the flexibility the grid needs in the green transition," Diklev concludes.

About Flower Hub
Flower Hub is a unique solution for home batteries, developed by Flower. Homeowners with battery systems can help support the electricity grid with flexibility, contributing to a more sustainable future while generating income for the household. Flower Hub consists of two parts: a plug-and-play device that is easily installed on the same network as the battery, and a web portal with separate interfaces for distributors, installers, and end customers. Flower Hub connects the battery to Flower's AI-based platform, which optimizes the battery's usage against the electricity grid and generates revenue. Compensation is provided per installed capacity and per month. The compensation level is updated quarterly according to an index that follows market prices.

Flower is Sweden's leading player in battery storage trading and optimization. By combining cutting-edge software technology with flexible energy assets, Flower is facilitating the renewable energy systems of tomorrow. With a focus on rapid expansion into selected European markets, Flower is breaking new ground towards a fossil-free energy system, enabling clean energy to power society.

Flower - Energizing tomorrow

We enable the energy system of tomorrow by combining pioneering technology with flexible assets, allowing clean energy to power society

The energy system of tomorrow relies on a high share of renewable energy production, and with that comes a new set of uncertainties. Grid owners, producers and consumers are all affected by these uncertainties, and enabling that system relies on stability in grid frequency, prices and volume. Combining and solving these problems is what we call flexibility.
