Ferroamp contributes to the development of an energy-smart district through collaboration in ElectriCITY

ElectriCITY, which has ambitious environmental goals for Hammarby Sjöstad to be a climate-neutral district by the year 2030, uses Ferroamp systems for energy-smart districts.

ElectriCITY Innovation has an ambitious environmental goal that Hammarby Sjöstad will be a climate-neutral district by the year 2030. This places major demands on new sustainability solutions, not only renewable energy, but also smart innovations to be able to share, store and rationalise energy consumption. This is where Ferroamp comes into the picture, contributing competence and technology for power control and energy optimisation, i.e. how to make the best use of energy through storage, phase balancing and benefits of scale.

“Ferroamp offers effective technological solutions for properties and contributes important - and necessary - knowledge to enable us to achieve our tough environmental goals. At both local and national level,” says Jörgen Lööf, CEO of ElectriCITY. “In future, our need to control our power will be at least as important as the energy we consume being environmentally classified. Controlling withdrawal will be crucial for homeowners and tenant-owner associations, in terms of both consumption and finances,” continues Jörgen Lööf. ElectriCITY works locally but thinks globally, and there are about thirty environmental and sustainability projects under way together with business, research bodies and universities.

ElectriCITY, which now includes Ferroamp, is carrying out research projects for energy communities together with RISE, KTH, ÖBO and a number of other business partners. A comprehensive project on flexible energy is being carried out with support from the Swedish Energy Agency, with the aim of developing efficient solutions for measuring, storing and sharing local energy in so-called energy communities and in a flexibility market.

“Through our participation in ElectriCITY, we’re making sure that we’re at the forefront of the development of energy-smart districts. We can contribute with our expertise in integrated solutions for electric vehicle charging, solar energy and energy storage, which are based on DC technology and make it possible to use microgrids to share local energy between properties.
