Swiss systems for European telephone companies: DHL takes over warehousing and distribution for Swissvoice

DHL Solutions, the logistics provider belonging to Deutsche Post World Net, takes over warehousing and distribution of telephone systems for Swissvoice in Hungary. Basel, March 5, 2004 – Swissvoice is a leading Swiss company for the production and sale of telephone systems and equipment. Clients include telephone companies throughout Europe. Swissvoice will outsource its warehouse and distribution, having signed a four-year outsourcing contract with DHL Solutions. DHL Solutions operates a warehouse and distribution center directly on the M1 Budapest–Vienna motorway in Paty (M1 Business Park). The warehouse is ideally situated making it possible to efficiently deliver material from the production site in Hungarian Pecs to cities across Europe. Large deliveries take place from Pecs as complete loads directly to the telephone company purchasing the goods. DHL Freight operates a shuttle twice weekly to take the equipment to the M1 Business Park in Paty. From there the number 1 European land transport company takes the delivery further either as a complete load or as grouped goods. Resale from Berne From its logistics center in Berne, Switzerland, DHL Solutions also operates the warehouse and distribution for the resale channel of Swissvoice. Clients include electronics specialty stores as well as small and large retailers. The telephone equipment is shipped either via parcel service or as general cargo. The collaboration between Swisscom Fixnet, Swissvoice’s main client, and DHL Solutions played a pivotal role in the company’s selection of its logistics partner. Swisscom Fixnet, the leading fixed network provider in Switzerland, handed over the warehousing, distribution and return logistics of the its fixed network telephones in Ostermundigen to DHL Solutions in July 2002.
