DHL Global Mail New brand for international mail services
Deutsche Post World Net relies worldwide on the strength of the DHL brand
Deutsche Post World Net is placing its international mail services outside Germany under a new brand. As a result, Deutsche Post Global Mail will become DHL Global Mail. This decision marks a further step in the Group's systematic implementation of its one-stop shopping concept which foresees Deutsche Post World Net offering single-source mail, express and logistics solutions worldwide. DHL Global Mail will continue to be part of Deutsche Post World Net's MAIL division despite the change in brand and will continue to have its own sales organization.
"Awareness of the DHL brand is very high worldwide and this will benefit us," Klaus Knappik, Chairman of the Mail International Divisional Board at Deutsche Post World Net, is sure. "Combining our highly profitable international mail business with DHL's express and logistics know-how makes our product portfolio the only one of its kind in the world."
The new brand will be launched in America and the Asia Pacific region on October 18. The second step will be its re-launch in Europe in January 2005. In Germany, Deutsche Post will continue to be responsible for both the domestic and international mail service business.
In the USA, the new brand will be called DHL Smart&GlobalMail. The words "smart" and "global" reflect the linking of the domestic services provided by the SmartMail brand which is established in the USA with Global Mail's know-how in the international mail dispatch field. Deutsche Post acquired SmartMail Services, the leading domestic mail service provider in the USA, in May of this year.
