BERGHS STUDENTS CELEBRATE THE POWER OF WORDS AT THIS YEAR'S FESTIVAL: STATE OF WORDS
During this year’s State of Words festival, Berghs School of Communication declares itself a sovereign state — one where words and language reign supreme. A sanctuary where words are free to move unhindered, break conventions, create meaning, and build new worlds.
For two days, May 23–24, the school opens its doors to everyone curious about the state of language — in a time when words are increasingly filtered, packaged, and drained of their power. Here, language is liberated from templates, headlines, and algorithms. Here, words can finally breathe.
“The idea behind State of Words was born out of frustration—frustration with a world where words are filtered, packaged, and stripped of their meaning, governed by algorithms, headlines, and the fear of saying the wrong thing. Words are used more to control than to create. We wanted to do the opposite: return language to the people—and create a space where words can be free again,” says Linnéa Nirell, copywriting student.
During the festival on May 23–24, Berghs invites you into a space where boundaries are blurred and the free movement of language is celebrated through exhibitions, conversations, and creative installations.
“We want people to pause and reflect on the true state of words today. Have they been watered down, shaped by algorithms, and lost their strength? During the festival, we celebrate language and let words take the spotlight,” says Mille Enequist, PR student.
The festival is open to the public and welcomes anyone curious about communication — whether through writing, visual expression, or human connection and conversation.
Come celebrate communication in all its forms. We’ll see you in the State. Read more and book your free tickets here.
