Transport Solutions Strengthens Camera Business with Acquisition of WIP

Axel Johnson International’s business group, Transport Solutions, has acquired WIP, a Swedish supplier of high-quality rear-view camera systems and sensors for industrial vehicles. The acquisition expands Transport Solutions’ product portfolio while reinforcing its position in the vehicle components market.

Founded in 1985 as a family-owned business, WIP has built a strong market presence with its own brand Wipomatic, which is gaining significant traction in material handling, mining, forestry, agriculture and construction. With growing demand for high-quality camera solutions and stricter safety regulations in these industries, WIP has become a strong global competitor, recognized for its quality, flexibility, reliability and innovation, and experienced strong growth in recent years.

“We are excited to become part of Axel Johnson International. This provides us with the resources and network to expand our market presence while continuing to focus on delivering high-quality camera solutions to our customers,” says Åsa Klyftell, CEO of WIP.

The acquisition aligns with Transport Solutions’ strategy to broaden its product portfolio in camera technology, a segment with strong growth potential. Wipomatic is a high-quality brand, and its camera systems are used both above and underground, serving OEM customers.

“This acquisition is a great step forward in strengthening our camera segment. The demand for advanced vehicle camera systems is increasing, driven by stricter safety regulations and legislation. WIP’s expertise and strong customer base will help us scale this segment and expand our offering” says Erik Eklöv, Managing Director of Transport Solutions at Axel Johnson International.

With WIP’s strong position in OEM machinery and Transport Solutions’ established presence in the truck and trailer industry, the acquisition creates valuable synergies and opportunities for further expansion. A cooperation between WIP’s products and Transport Solutions’ existing brands and market channels is expected to drive further growth in both existing and new customer segments.
