​Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2021 tilldelas Jean-Claude Mourlevat

Jean-Claude Mourlevat är en av Frankrikes stora barn- och ungdomsförfattare. Han debuterade 1997 och har gett ut ett trettiotal böcker som översatts till närmare tjugo språk. Han rör sig gärna inom genrer som saga, fabel och fantasy. Berättelserna tar avstamp i litterära traditioner men gestaltar världar som inte liknar några andra. Han skriver för såväl yngre barn och ungdomar som för vuxna.

The 2021 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award laureate will be announced on March 30

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, ALMA, is given annually to a person or organisation for their outstanding contribution to children’s and young adult literature. With a prize of five million Swedish kronor, it is the largest award of its kind. This year 262 candidates were nominated from 68 countries.The announcement will take place on Tuesday 30 March at a live press conference from Stockholm.

Children have the right to great stories

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award was created in 2002 by the Swedish government to promote every child’s right to great stories. This global award is given annually to a person or organisation for their outstanding contribution to children’s and young adult literature. With a prize of five million Swedish kronor, it is the largest award of its kind. Administrated by the Swedish Arts Council.
