Announcement of the 2013 recipient

Location Astrid Lindgren's Näs, Vimmerby and Bologna Children's Book Fair.

The recipient of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award will be announced on March 26 at 1:00 pm CET. In line with tradition, the announcement will take place at Astrid Lindgren’s Näs in Vimmerby and streamed live to the world’s biggest book fair for young readers in Bologna, where Sweden this year is Guest of Honor. The announcement and the following presentation of the recipient will be broadcast live on www.alma.se.

Children have the right to great stories

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award was created in 2002 by the Swedish government to promote every child’s right to great stories. This global award is given annually to a person or organisation for their outstanding contribution to children’s and young adult literature. With a prize of five million Swedish kronor, it is the largest award of its kind. Administrated by the Swedish Arts Council.
