Amplifier Game Invest creates a new game studio - River End Games

​Amplifier Game Invest, an Embracer Group subsidiary, opens a new Game Development Studio in Gothenburg: River End Games.

The new studio will be based on a new investment model, a new approach to the market. The model aims to attract experienced, talented game developers, to let them shape the creative vision, while Amplifier Game Invest and Embracer Group provides the funding and support. This creates new opportunities for creativity, for great games and for growth. The development of this new model led to the birth of River End Games, based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

“We at Amplifier Game Invest saw an opportunity to build an exceptional team and create a new ambitious studio in Gothenburg, Sweden. We approached Anders Hejdenberg and Karl Broström and they were both thrilled at the opportunity”, says Per-Arne Lundberg, CEO of Amplifier Game Invest.

“We felt immediately that Amplifier’s views on game development and great work culture were very much in line with ours, so this was a no-brainer for us,” says Anders Hejdenberg, Creative Director at River End Games.

Anders Hejdenberg (UDS, DICE, 1337 Game Design) and Karl Broström (SimBin, GHOST, Coldwood) are two highly experienced game development veterans with over forty years of game industry expertise between them. They’ve worked on AAA games like Battlefield and Need for Speed, smaller award-winning titles like Unravel and created several original IPs, like Apple Design Award winning Leo’s Fortune. With River End Games, they are bringing together a team of highly skilled former colleagues who share their inquisitive nature and eagerness to work in an innovative environment where curiosity is the main driving force.

“We essentially made a short list of some of the best people we’ve ever worked with, and so far, everyone has said yes. It almost feels like the movie Blues Brothers where we’re bringing the band back together.” Karl says.

Anders and Karl are already well underway with the development of the Studio´s first title, building on an original IP, with a deep narrative and exquisite visual design. The initial team will be comprised of six people who will give the team an average industry experience of 18 years.
