Promising life science enterprises can grow with GOBIA Enterprises

Selected firms are getting support from the Swedish investment company GOBIA Enterprises AB, based in Gothenburg, investing in wholly- or partly-owned companies as well as partnerships in Sweden and the rest of Europe.

Backed by long experience

Jan G. Smith is a well-known entrepreneur with long experience in the vast life science sphere. Among his contributions in the field is commercialising one of the world’s major wound care products, Sorbact, based on a Swedish innovation, which allows wound dressings to draw out bacteria and thus speed up the healing process.

Jan G. Smith is the past CEO of ABIGO Medical, a position he held up until the company was sold some years ago, He was also one of the founders as well as Chairman of the Sahlgrenska Science Park during its first 13 years. Jan is also one of the founders and the chairman of the Pharma Association EUCOPE in Brussels, which he has been ever since its foundation 16 years ago.

GOBIA Enterprises Partner and vice president is Jan Erik Smith, who brings extensive international experience to the table. As a team, father and son work to support invested companies into successful and growing businesses.

CIRCIUS brand likely to expand

One of the wholly-owned companies within GOBIA is CIRCIUS Pharma AB, founded by Jan G. Smith after he had left ABIGO Medical. Some of the innovations developed by the team at ABIGO Medical are now part of Circius Pharma, as well as quite a few of the experts that were formerly active in ABIGO Medical.

CIRCIUS Pharma, also located in Gothenburg, thus had a head start with several developed products and even more projects underway. The company’s products are to date available in over 30 countries.

Developments are underway to ensure an even broader reach of the CIRCIUS brand and products, especially focusing both on novel treatments and medical devices to treat common conditions.

SHI Pharma -40 years of solid experience

SHI Pharma is owned fully by GOBIA Enterprises. SHI stands for Swedish Herbal Institute, and the business was acquired last year.

SHI Pharma has 40 years of experience in developing, manufacturing and marketing herbal based pharma products and food supplements.

The manufacturing takes place in a 6000 square meters large pharma plant, located in Vallberga/Laholm, covering the production of the entire range from herbs to finished products. The plant is approved for pharmaceutical production and for production of APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients).
