The Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025

The Red Dot Award: Product Design is among the most prestigious design competitions worldwide. Since 1955, it has honoured products that stand out for their exceptional design quality. An independent Red Dot Jury evaluates all entries based on four fundamental principles of good design: function, seduction, usability and responsibility.

In 2025, the jury was composed of 43 experts from 21 countries, including designers, professors, journalists, and consultants from various disciplines. The entries came from over 60 nations and were carefully examined and discussed during intensive judging sessions.

Save the Date: award ceremony on 8 July 2025

The festive award ceremony will take place on 8 July 2025 at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, followed by an after-show party at the Red Dot Design Museum, located at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein. You are warmly invited to attend this international event in person. Images and reports from last year can be found here. The official press invitation and further information on accreditation will follow shortly.

Kind regards,

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the most prestigious design competitions worldwide. Participants can submit entries in three disciplines: products, brands and communication projects, as well as prototypes and design concepts. Each year, a jury convenes for each award category to individually assess the submissions and subsequently decide on the awarding of distinctions.

The Red Dot Design Award has a nearly 70-year history: in 1955, a jury convened for the first time to evaluate the best designs of that era. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award.
