Radonova´s Radtrak2 detectors receive excellent results in a Spanish radon intercomparison test

Radonova and ACPRO, one of Radonova´s distributors in Spain, have taken part in an intercomparison exercise with passive radon detectors. The Radtrak2 detectors used in the test got very good results when comparing to other detectors.

ACPRO SLU has been authorized as a Technical Unit in Radiological Protection (UTPR) since 1990. The national intercomparison test was organized by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, in collaboration with the Spanish Radiation Safety Authority (CSN).

For the intercomparison test, at least five detectors of the same type were exposed from each laboratory. The detectors were exposed to radon concentrations (ca. 300 and 1000 Bq/m3) for 3 months. Only 5 of the 10 participants obtained satisfactory results for all the exposures undertaken – illustrating the high-performance levels of Radonova’s Radtrak2 radon detectors.

Due to new regulations and guidance from the Spanish Radiation Safety Authority and the recent update of the Spanish Technical Building Code, there has been an increase in demand for radon concentration measurements in residential homes and workplaces. Nevertheless, further work still needs to be done in Spain, such as the implementation of the European Directive 59/2013 which is still pending national approval.

Radonova launches new software to simplify radon measurement during working hours

To simplify radon measurement in workplaces, Radonova has developed new software which works with radon instruments to make it easier to measure and analyze radon levels during the working day.
“There is increased demand for both accredited long-term measurements at workplaces and radon measurements during working hours. In order to quickly obtain an annual average value and meet this need, Ra

Research measurement data indicates that there can be unexpectedly high levels of radon, regardless of floor level.

New statistics show that all floors should be included in workplace radon measurements

Research measurement data of over 15,000 Swedish workplaces indicates that there can be unexpectedly high levels of radon, regardless of floor level or where you specifically measure. The findings confirm the importance of measuring sufficiently and not being satisfied with a small number of measuring points. An inadequate measurement can in the long run contribute to an unnecessary health hazard.
