Modification work on the front of the Katajanokka Terminal has begun

Modification and basic improvement work on the front of the Katajanokka Terminal at the Port of Helsinki has begun in week 18, 2013.

The pedestrian zone in front of the terminal will be slightly expanded from its current size and the rock paving will be replaced with granite paving.

The short-term parking area for passenger cars will be moved closer to the terminal, and a parking area for buses will be built where the passenger car parking area is currently located. The arrangements for the concentration area for long-term parking and taxis will remain the same for the most part. All asphalt surfaces and paving will be replaced.

The lighting in outdoor areas will also be improved with new lighting solutions.

The work will be carried out in phases and in multiple areas in order to minimise the disturbances caused to pedestrians and vehicle traffic.

The modification work begun with work site arrangements as well as the removal of paving on Monday 29 April, 2013. All work in front of the terminal will be completed by the end of November 2013.
