Tech know-how to go: How computational power becomes a catalyst for AI technologies

Today, at the 2024 Summit for Research and Innovation, which is being held for the first time in cooperation with HANNOVER MESSE, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and leading figures from the German scientific community will discuss the question of where Germany and Europe stand in the international AI competition and what strategies exist to remain competitive in the development of future technologies. The Stifterverband, one of the initiators of the research summit, has compiled some interesting figures on artificial intelligence in its accompanying discussion paper "K to the power of 3 - Innovations in Germany". Our Tech-Know-how to go shows that the computing capacity of supercomputers plays a decisive role as a catalyst for AI technologies. The paper states:

"In terms of the number of supercomputers, Germany still ranks third worldwide. However, its computing power is below average. A performance ranking shows the leading role of the USA.

However, the example of Finland shows that even small countries can achieve equally good positions in international comparison. Overall, Europe therefore definitely has the potential to secure sovereignty in AI technologies. Access to computing capacity for start-ups, for example, is also a key factor for the speed of innovation."
