Press release -

Nysnø invests in the Norwegian EV charger company Amina

Stavanger-based growth company Amina has developed a new and easier EV charger. The company has recently closed a funding round of NOK 87 million to rig the company for European scaling. Nysnø Climate Investments is one of the investors that joins the company.

Easier and more affordable EV charger

- Amina was started with a vision to give everyone the opportunity for a greener everyday life. We saw a need in the market for a more affordable EV charger, which is more convenient both in use and installation, without compromising on quality. Smart charging is made possible via most electric cars today, allowing energy-intensive and expensive components to be removed from the charger. Amina makes it as easy to charge your car as your mobile phone, says Eirik Jørgensen, CEO and co-founder of the company.

The company focuses on creating jobs and local ripple effects in Western Norway, and both design, engineering, and production take place in Norway.

- The fact that the product has been developed and manufactured in Norway becomes a stamp of approval when we scale internationally, says Jørgensen.

Uncomplicated EV charging

In the funding round, Amina has attracted a solid investor consortium consisting of Nysnø Climate Investments AS, Eviny Ventures AS, Lyse Vekst AS, Momentum II AS, Investore Finans AS, Austinvest AS/Futurum Utvikling AS, IKM Invest AS, and Velde Holding AS.

- Electrification of the mobility sector is facing major changes and is an important contributor to the green transition. Norway has taken a leading role in the adoption of electric vehicles, but in an international perspective we are in the initial phase, says John Egil Johannessen, Investment Manager at Nysnø Climate Investments.

- We find it exciting that Amina has international ambitions from day one and believe that the company's value proposition for convenient EV charging hits a nerve. With a forward-looking team with long experience in the industry, we believe that the company has what it takes to turn a solid product into profitable growth," says Johannessen.

Expanding the team

Amina has an ambitious journey ahead and is now looking for the sharpest minds in the industry.

- We work hard to make everyday life greener for all of us, and we will achieve that goal by doing things a little bit different and better than our competitors, adds Eirik Jørgensen.

In Amina, all employees will have the opportunity to become a part owner in the company.

- We will create one common team and it benefits everyone being generous. In this way we will recruit the most talented people in the industry. We shall employ about 20 people this year alone. Several of the positions are already out, just waiting the right person, says Jørgensen.
