Non-Violence Project Foundation Expands Network to Ecuador, South Africa, and Greece

The Non-Violence Project Foundation (NVPF) is delighted to announce the expansion of its global network with the addition of three new countries: Ecuador, South Africa, and Greece. This significant growth marks a new chapter in our mission to promote peace and non-violence through education and social initiatives worldwide.

South Africa: A Rainbow Nation Committed to Change

South Africa, often referred to as the Rainbow Nation, has a rich history of overcoming adversity and striving for social justice. We are excited to welcome Bafana Nzimande as a new leader in our network. Bafana’s dedication to improving social regulations and fostering a culture of non-violence aligns perfectly with NVPF’s values. His leadership will be instrumental in implementing and enhancing our programs in South Africa, ensuring that we continue to make a positive impact in communities across the country.

Ecuador: Embracing Peace in the Heart of the World

Ecuador, known for its natural beauty and cultural diversity, has recently faced escalating violence. We are honored to welcome Victor Huerta as the Country Director for Ecuador. Victor's personal journey from being a corporate professional to a full-time non-violence activist after surviving a kidnapping in 2020 is a testament to his resilience and dedication. His work in promoting peace through conferences, workshops, and seminars embodies the spirit of NVPF's mission. Victor represents the 17 million Ecuadorians who aspire to live in peace and is committed to making Ecuador a safer place.

Greece: Reviving Ancient Ideals of Peace and Sportsmanship

Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and a nation with a deep-rooted history in sports, is also joining the NVPF family. We proudly introduce Theodoros Babaroutsis as the Country Director for Greece. Coming from a sporting family background, Theodoros has been inspired by the Olympic ideals of fair play and sportsmanship throughout his life. His expertise in Human Resources and experience in mega events will be invaluable as we work together to address various forms of violence, from bullying to domestic violence. Theodoros’s commitment to long-term solutions and education will help build awareness and empower the youth in Greece.

The Movement that Unites for a Non-Violent Future

Anouk Tenten, CEO of The Non-Violence Project Foundation, expressed her excitement about this expansion: “We are thrilled to welcome Ecuador, South Africa, and Greece to our global network. Each of these countries brings unique strengths and perspectives that will enrich our collective efforts to promote non-violence. Together, we are stronger and more capable of creating a world where peace and non-violence prevail.”

As we continue to grow as a unified Non-Violence Project, the foundation remains dedicated to supporting our country directors, trainers, sponsors, and advocates. The addition of these three countries is a testament to our commitment to expanding our reach and impact. By welcoming these three countries, we are now operational in all parts of the world. We look forward to collaborating with our new partners in Ecuador, South Africa, and Greece to create safer, more peaceful communities.

THE WORLD HAS CHANGED. VIOLENCE HAS CHANGED. WE HAVE CHANGED. JOIN THE CHANGE MOVEMENT... Since 1993, The Non-Violence Project has addressed violence via productive conversations, impactful partnerships, education programs and more. Now is the time to celebrate the milestones we have experienced together.

We inspire, motivate and educate young people to learn how to solve conflicts peacefully.

The Non-Violence Project Foundation inspires, motivates, and empowers young people by equipping them with the skills to cultivate awareness and understanding of non-violence. Our programs help individuals overcome violence and solve conflicts peacefully, promoting a world where creativity and peaceful communication thrive. We believe that knowledge is power, and through skill-based learning and engaging educational tools, we unlock the potential for positive change in the world.

Since our founding in 1993 in Switzerland, we have educated over 10 million people across five continents. Our education programs and outreach initiatives have earned numerous accolades for best practices. In 2011, President Obama awarded NVPF the President’s Call to Service Award. Other honors include the Presidential Daily Light Award, presented to President Bill Clinton, the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary International, the American National Safety Council Award for best practice, and the Weed & Seed Award from the U.S. Department of Justice in 2009.

Our iconic symbol, the Knotted Gun, was created by renowned Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd in 1980. The sculpture, depicting a revolver with its barrel tied in a knot, was a response to the tragic assassination of John Lennon. Reuterswärd's intent was to symbolize the futility of violence and the power of peace. The Knotted Gun has since become a global symbol for the Non-Violence Project, representing our commitment to educating the world on peaceful conflict resolution.

With our 30-year legacy, innovative methods, and a growing community of change advocates like you, we are actively shaping a more peaceful and non-violent world.

As a non-profit based in Switzerland, we operate globally, welcoming individuals from all corners of the world to join us in our mission.
