Meet our Zenitel values award winners

Every company is driven by core values. We have chosen to express them in a simple acronym called PARTI.

• “P” stands for pride of workmanship. It includes all the work we produce and how we choose to express it.
• “A” stands for Accountability and is about taking ownership. For yourself and your team.
• “R” stands for Results and is about metrics that matter to our clients, partners and investors.
• “T” stands for Teamwork and is the recognition that individuals must find a way to communicate and collaborate in productive ways.
• “I” stands for Innovation. And innovation is not simply good ideas, but how to create a culture of thinking outside the mainstream and then taking the best of those ideas and actually make them real through sound operational process and discipline.

Each quarter employees that have made an extra effort to deliver on our company values receive recognition and an award from our CEO, Kenneth Dåstøl. Over the next few weeks we will introduce you to the winners for the 1st Quarter of 2017. We start with meeting the winner for the core value “Pride”, Jørn-Stian Lønsetteig from our office in Oslo, Norway.

Jørn-Stian won as he is always helping out and giving support if you need a helping hand. In his already 9-year experience at Zenitel, he never gives up and does not settle until he has found the solution. We try to not disturb him unless it is really urgent, because he has a lot of tasks and responsibilities, but when you do need urgent IT support in Oslo, he’s your go-to man! He always gives a helping hand when needed.

How did you end up working for Zenitel?

After moving to Oslo in 2006 I was with a consulting company for some time, but the unpredictability made me look for other options. Zenitel were hiring at the time and it was exactly what I was looking for: a technology oriented company that specialized on a niche - the fact that both hardware and software development was done in house also made for an interesting employer. Having offices in one of my favorite parts of the city also didn't hurt.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I'm your average night owl, so I'll be getting up at eight-ish and depending on time either walk or get the bus in to the office. There I'll look over notifications and take an overview of our networks and systems then start on any pending tasks. As I usually am less in a rush on my way home, I'll be walking back most days.

What’s most interesting about your job?

Comparing solutions and staying on top of the changes in our field are definitely one of the interesting aspects of the work we do. We work by the best of breed methodology, so comparing different solutions for the challenges we are presented are a big part of the job. Things are changing quickly in our field and staying on top of it is always fun.

How do you feel about receiving this value award?

It’s surprising, in the sense that I haven’t considered that I’m doing anything special other than my job. It’s also an honor, as the earlier recipients have been individuals that really are contributing to the company growth and are examples for others to follow.

Which value do you identify yourself with the most and why?

I would say that the Innovation value is the one I’m aligning closest to. We’re always presented with new and interesting challenges and working out the best solution for those while still considering budgets and licenses are a big part of what we do.
