Valladolid, World capital of tapas

The 17th National Contest of Pinchos & Tapas Ciudad de Valladolid and the 5th Tapas World Championship Ciudad de Valladolid have been inaugurated and will be held in the Cúpula del Milenio from 8th to 10th of November. In the national competition will compete 45 chefs from all the corners of Spain; meanwhile, other 16 will compete in the World Championship.

The national competition began yesterday and will be chosen after three stages. The participants will have 25 minutes to present seven reproductions of their proposal. The winner will receive a cash prize of 10,000 euros and will be responsible for representing Spain at the World Tapas Championship in 2022. The second and third place winners of the National Competition will receive a prize of 5,000 euros and 2,500 euros respectively.

On the other hand, the 5th World Tapas Championship will be held on Wednesday, in which chefs from all over the world will be taking part. Emilio Martín, from Restaurante Suite 22 in Valladolid, will be in charge of representing Spain after winning last year's title of Champion of Spain of Pinchos y Tapas 2020.

International Tapas Festival

From 8 November, all the tapas participating in the two competitions will be available for tasting in the restaurants and bars of the city as part of the International Tapas Festival, which will take place until Sunday 14th of November. All the useful information has been gathered in the mobile application, TAPASVLL. It allows users to find out about all the participating creations, where to taste them, follow the gastronomic competitions live and find out, from 10 November, all the winning tapas.

Thanks to this festival, Valladolid is becoming step-by-step one of the best destinations in Spain to try and enjoy the most popular example of the Spanish Gastronomy.
