Parcel record and reduced greenhouse gas emissions

The Board of Posten Bring AS has approved the integrated annual report for 2023.

Posten Bring reduced greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations by 15 per cent in 2023 while increasing its level of activity and, for the first time, the Group handled over 100 million parcels in a year.

Revenue in 2023 was NOK 24.4 billion, around one billion more than in 2022. Last year's adjusted operating profit was NOK 716 million, NOK 310 million better than the previous year.

"We can look back on a year with increased revenue, higher profit than the previous year and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. We have navigated well in a demanding market. It is therefore particularly gratifying that we are growing as a Nordic logistics group at the same time as we are reducing our greenhouse gas emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. We have now reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by 62 per cent since 2012", says Tone Wille, CEO of Posten Bring.

Posten Bring has terminals at 39 locations in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

At the end of 2023, Posten Bring had 12 649 employees.

Some selected results from 2023:

  • The Group's greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 17 per cent from 2022. This corresponds to the average emissions from 721 large diesel-powered trucks.
  • Direct greenhouse gas emissions from own operations were 42 746 tonnes of CO2 equivalents in 2023, representing a reduction of 15 per cent from 2022.
  • Posten Bring has 2 972 total vehicles that are powered by fossil-free and renewable energy sources. This is up from 2 529 vehicles the previous year.
  • Posten Bring acquired 538 electric vans in 2023.
  • All parcels and mail in Oslo are now delivered by electric vehicles.
  • Electric vehicles deliver letters and parcels to 2.7 million people in Norway, around half of the country's population.
  • Posten Bring was awarded the Norwegian Logistics and Freight Association's environmental award for its work on electrifying its vehicle fleet and for its investments in charging infrastructure and solar panels.
  • Bring can now deliver using electric vehicles to 1.4 million people in Denmark. All Bring's vans in Copenhagen must be electric by April 2024.
  • In Sweden, Bring delivers packages with fossil-free fuel to 6.1 million people.
  • A moratorium on the purchase of fossil fuel vans has been introduced in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, and it has been decided that 50 per cent of the light vehicles will be electric by the summer of 2024.
  • The Group transported 197 290 containers (TEUs) by train, which equates to 98 645 fewer trucks on the road annually.
  • Posten Bring has adopted new and ambitious emission reduction targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi):
  • By 2030: 85 per cent reduction in direct emissions from fuel and electricity consumption (scopes 1 and 2) and 30 per cent reduction in emissions from purchased transport and from purchased goods and services (scope 3).
  • Target of net-zero emissions by 2040.

The English version of the integrated annual report for 2023 will be published later.
