Aon Nordics launches video podcast; “Weather and Wine” widens the aperture on the topic of risk

STOCKHOLM, 23 April 2025 – Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global provider of professional risk-mitigation services, today announced the launch of the Aon Nordics video podcast “Weather and Wine”. Hosted by Aon Sweden CEO and Aon Nordics CCO, Karl Roquet, the podcast will seek new perspectives and insights on the thorny issue of risk. The initial run of the English-language podcast will feature four prominent Nordic guests and can be found on Spotify and YouTube.

In today’s turbulent and unpredictable world – marked not least by instability in the political arena and financial markets – the subject of risk is on everyone’s lips. We want to help people better understand how to navigate this rocky terrain. We want them to make better informed decisions, to protect and enrich the people and property they hold most dear. From the outset, the goal of the series has been to widen the aperture on the topic of risk, and to not only discuss its attendant challenges but also the unforeseen opportunities.

The name “Weather and Wine” originates from Aon’s analysis of how changes in weather patterns were impacting South African vineyards. These conversations are modelled on the same risk-and-consequence dynamic and seen through the prism of four macro-trends: trade, technology, weather and workforce. Guests were carefully selected according to their varying backgrounds and special insights into risk. The first run of four episodes will be released weekly following the Easter holidays.

Episode 1: Olof Gränström is a political scientist, historian, and business economist who has worked closely with the Gapminder Foundation, founded by Hans Rosling. As a senior adviser to international business leaders, he emphasizes the importance of making decisions grounded in reality and facts rather than feelings and assumptions.

Episode 2: Anders Tegnell is a Swedish civil servant and physician specialising in infectious disease. From 2013 until his resignation in March 2022 he was Sweden's state epidemiologist. Tegnell had key roles in the Swedish response to the 2009 swine flu pandemic and COVID-19 pandemic.

Episode 3: Jan Vapaavuori is a Finnish urban affairs advisor, President of the Finnish Olympic Committee, a former Mayor of Helsinki, two-term Minister, and former Vice-President in the European Investment Bank.

Episode 4: Annika Wallenskog, former Chief Economist at the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR), has been a central figure in Swedish public finance throughout her long career. She insightfully sheds light on the economic challenges and opportunities facing municipalities and regional authorities.
