Akvaplan-niva scientist inspires young students

Earlier this month Akvaplan-niva scientist Ingvild Utengen held a so called "Inspiration talk" as part of the Arctic Frontiers Young program "Science for Schools" with high school students from the Tromsø area. The turnout of the whole Inspiration Days arranged this time was fantastic, with altogether 400 enthusiastic students and 30 dedicated teachers joining the events.

The title of Ingvilds presentation was Humpback whales along the North-Norwegian coast. According to the Arctic Frontiers Young Program Coordinator, Sebastian Kopf, this was a very engaging and informative talk and the students were clearly inspired by learning about Ingvilds career path and her work in the office and in the field collecting samples.

Ingvild says that she really liked the set up of the event, that she found it very inspirering meeting this group of engaged youngsters and that she is looking forward to seeing the posters that the students will produce based on these inspirational talks.

More about the InspirationDays:

Arctic Frontiers hosted the #2023 #InspirationDays in October and November under the Arctic Frontiers Science for Schools program in collaboration with the Science Centre of Northern Norway (Nordnorsk vitensenter). The program is designed to foster a love for science and exploration among young minds. Students had the opportunity to engage with early career researchers, delve deeper into their career choices, and participate in an ongoing project revolving around the marine environment in their hometown with Wild Lab Projects.
