Press release -

Motosumo secures its first gym partnership in South Africa

The revolutionary group fitness app has partnered up with Viva Gym, a fitness chain with studios in seven locations around the country.

After a successful trial run with 120 members at their Sunningdale studio, near Cape Town, Viva is now rolling out Motosumo in Walmer, Port Elizabeth, with plans to implement it across their entire nationwide chain by the end of 2020.

Karin Hesse, manager at Sunningdale, is stoked to have Motosumo on board. “It’s all about making our classes special,” she says. “Motosumo has loads of fun, unique features, and we especially love the competitive element. It adds a whole new dynamic."

For Derick du Preez, managing director of Viva, scalability was a key factor in this new partnership. "The whole process has been incredibly smooth and stress-free," he says. "Motosumo worked instantly with all of our bikes, so now we're looking forward to hooking up heart rate monitors and running the app in our group training sessions."

This latest addition to the Motosumo family means that the app is now being used by paying gyms in 24 countries around the globe. And the growth of Motosumo's worldwide reach shows no signs of slowing down.

“It’s wild,” says CEO, Kresten Juel Jensen. “The engineer in me is thrilled to see so many people using our tech. But it also shows how much universal appeal Motosumo has. And how important group fitness is in today’s industry.”
