Volvo Car Mobility continues its expansion - M launches in Helsingborg

Stockholm 2020-09-02: M, Volvo Car Mobility opens up in Helsingborg, continuing its expansion on the South West coast so more people can access a smarter way to have a car. Since launching in Stockholm one year ago, the mobility service has expanded to cater to urban individuals and businesses in Sweden’s biggest cities; Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg, Borås, Malmö, Lund––and now Helsingborg.

In just shy of one year since launching in Stockholm and six months since expanding to Gothenburg and Malmö, M has attracted over 86,000 registered customers. Thanks to the Helsingborg launch, M will improve access in the south of Sweden by connecting the Malmö, Lund, and Helsingborg regions.

M has a total of 604 stations strategically placed across the city regions, with 158 stations in the Malmö and Lund area. Helsingborg will now have ten stations around the city center, including car-parks at Helsingborg C, Magnus Stenbock, and Helsingborg Söder, Kvantum.

"There is a growing number of private individuals and businesses who want a more flexible way to access a car and appreciate the convenience and sustainability that M provides. In the wake of the Corona pandemic, as more people avoid public transport, M can play an important role in helping people retain a sense of personal freedom during this challenging time" says Therese Ahlström Brodowsky, CEO at Volvo Cars Mobility Sweden.

With congestion, city parking challenges, and high costs for fuel, service, and insurance, more people are realizing the advantages that come with accessing, rather than owning a car. By reducing the number of cars in cities, more space is created for people to move more freely and sustainably.

"We see great potential in the entire Helsingborg and Malmö region. There are many progressive urban development projects, with districts like Västra Hamnen in Malmö paving the way towards a more sustainable urban future. And Helsingborg is such an important city in the region, with many people commuting to and from Malmö," says Therese Ahlström Brodowsky.
