New Belly Cargo Capacity on Numerous Routes

Since the beginning of June, Lufthansa Cargo customers have been benefiting from new belly capacities on attractive new connections: For example, direct connections to North America - with Lufthansa Airlines from Frankfurt to Minneapolis (MSP) and to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) - can be booked. From the Lufthansa Cargo hub in Munich, new connections to Seattle (SEA) three times a week and daily capacity to Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR) will also be offered with immediate effect. Austrian Airlines is also connecting Vienna with Los Angeles (LAX). Discover Airlines flies from Frankfurt to Halifax (YHZ) and Anchorage (ANC).

More Munich: Since the start of the summer timetable, passenger aircraft have also been flying from the southern German hub to Trondheim (TRD) in Norway, Nantes (NTE) in France, Oulu (OUL) in Finland and Chișinău (KIV) in Moldova. From Brussels, new connections to Nairobi (NBO) via Kigali (KGL) will be offered six times a week on Wednesdays and Sundays with Brussels Airlines.

New Main Deck Capacity on B777F Freighter from Dubai (DWC) to Frankfurt (FRA)

Lufthansa Cargo now also offers freighter capacity to Dubai World Central (DWC). The station has been opened for inbound and outbound cargo and is available to customers twice a week in addition to the belly service from Dubai International Airport (DXB). This gives customers more options, e.g. for handling larger cargo items or special freight. Both airports are connected via truck services.

A total of 83 weekly B777F frequencies to 40 destinations worldwide, 19 A321F destinations and belly capacities on up to 7,000 weekly Lufthansa Group flights worldwide are available. Recertification for Lufthansa Cargo Pharma Centers in Munich and Chicago

The Lufthansa Cargo Pharma Hub in Munich and the Pharma Center Chicago were re-certified with the IATA CEIV Pharma seal in April 2024. The pharmaceutical label “Center of Excellence of Independent Validators” (CEIV) confirms that Lufthansa Cargo handles temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical shipments at both locations in accordance with the highest international quality standards. The Lufthansa Cargo Pharma Centers in Munich and Chicago, which opened in summer 2020, were CEIV Pharma-certified for the first time in 2021. Lufthansa Cargo can look back on decades of experience in the transportation of pharmaceutical products and has more than 30 CEIV Pharma certifications in its network as well as a CEIV Pharma certification as an airline, making it one of the largest pharmaceutical networks worldwide.

The Lufthansa Cargo Pharma Hub Munich is unique at this logistically important hub. The state-of-the-art cold store was opened at Munich Airport in August 2020 and is the first and only temperature-controlled center there with CEIV Pharma certification. On almost 1000 square meters, it offers two different cooling areas (+2 to +8 °C and +15 to +25 °C) as well as a deep-freeze cell. The Lufthansa Cargo Pharma Center Chicago at O' Hare Airport was opened in June 2020 as a central transshipment point for pharmaceutical products in the USA. A deep-freeze cell and two different temperature ranges (+2 to +8 °C and +15 to +25 °C) are spread over approximately 750 square meters. The state-of-the-art Pharma Center also offers space for 54 pallets in a unique, temperature-controlled rack storage system.

The Lufthansa Cargo Pharma Hub Frankfurt was already expanded in 2018. The majority of pharmaceutical shipments at Lufthansa Cargo are handled via the hub. With around 8,300 square meters, it is one of the world's first temperature-controlled centers with CEIV Pharma certification.
