Well-balanced concept with a variety of LTS products

Almost too beautiful for work

It is with great pride and pleasure that LTS Licht & Leuchten GmbH is presenting the successfully completed Bunte & Klein GmbH company building in Leverkusen. This project is an excellent example of the versatility and capability of the LTS product range. LTS has installed a mixture of decorative and functional lighting systems that make for a fully integrated, aesthetically appealing and tried and tested lighting concept.

"We are very proud that we were given the chance to design the entire lighting for this project which enabled us to show our wide-ranging expertise. It’s been a great opportunity to integrate a variety of LTS lighting solutions. They come from a single source, perfectly match each other and are all of the same premium quality. With this project, our lighting designer has freely expressed her creativity and realised a unique lighting concept.”

These circular LTS ceiling lights, harmoniously named Lunata, reinforce the character of the high-quality ambience and have been specifically selected and integrated into the room concept.

Challenging lighting design in the office building

The lighting design for the office building was a particular challenge, because it had to fulfil both aesthetical and functional, workplace-related requirements. The most important aspects were the following:

  • Glare control: To provide a comfortable working atmosphere, luminaires have to be selected and positioned in such a way that glare is reduced to the minimum and workstations can be lit with optimal light for working with screens.
  • Even lighting: Homogeneous basic lighting is key to preventing fatigue and enhancing productivity.
  • Flexibility: Different working areas, such as open spaces for effective communication and quiet workstations, require flexible lighting solutions that can be easily adjusted to the respective use.
  • Energy efficiency: Sustainability plays a central role. Energy-efficient luminaires contribute to lower operating costs and are compatible with the environment.
  • Aesthetics and design: The luminaires should harmoniously integrate into the architecture and match the overall building design.

The open-plan office created here integrates different types of office: Soundproof booths for deep work or important video conferences are located next to group workstations. Cosy office lounges for creative exchanges over a coffee with colleagues or clients are located in central areas. In other words, different office types are sensibly combined in a shared space.

Concept and realisation

Bunte & Klein GmbH chose LTS Licht & Leuchten GmbH to provide the architecturally challenging lighting solution in the new company building.

“We aimed at designing a uniform and sophisticated lighting concept that optimally meets the requirements of the different areas and purposes of the building. We have achieved this thanks to the excellent collaboration both with the owner Bunte & Klein GmbH and the electrical specialist Monz from Cologne.“

Office lighting has to fulfil a variety of requirements: In every project, planners are faced with the challenge of combining normative specifications, economic objectives, structural conditions and design requirements in one concept. LTS offers you the right advice and the right lighting solutions.

One of the core components of the solution developed by LTS is the ultramodern LTS Lichtkanal 060 with direct/indirect lighting above the workstations. In addition to energy-related aspects, also architectural considerations and workstation lighting requirements played a significant role. Sufficient, well-planned light can improve both the employees’ productivity and their wellbeing. Well-lit working areas help reduce visual fatigue, which is particularly important when working in front a computer screen for long periods.

The sophisticated LTS lighting helps everyone find their way easily and quickly through the new office building. Specifically selected lighting solutions in the corridors guide both visitors and employees safely to the desired area. Light helps people navigate the building by making corridors and important areas, such as entrances, staircases and emergency exits, clearly visible. The owner’s specific requirements were all taken into consideration when designing and planning the lighting.

Additional LTS luminaire benefits in a nutshell:

  • Individual adjustment and customisation to meet all architectural requirements
  • Up to 80% savings in lighting-related energy costs
  • Improved efficiency through excellent lighting quality and light distribution
  • Compliance with RoHS Directive and EU Ecodesign Directive
  • Sustainable solution thanks to highly durable LEDs (50,000 operating hours and almost maintenance-free)

With the Cerchio pendant luminaire, no compromise is needed, because it provides an extremely homogeneous light with excellent lighting quality.

Selecting the right lighting, be it at the reception or in meeting areas, is of utmost importance to welcoming guests and fostering the wellbeing of employees. The floating light rings of the LTS Cerchio family demonstrate this quite well. They seamlessly pick up the round shape and the beautiful looks of the high-quality interior.

Integrating the LTS luminaires into this project shows that sustainable and advanced lighting solutions are in great demand. The ultramodern luminaires by LTS fulfil these requirements particularly well due to their high energy efficiency and sustainability. The installed luminaires are even more powerful and consume very little energy. The resource-efficient production of LTS lighting solutions also contributes to protecting the environment. LTS Licht & Leuchten GmbH shows that advanced lighting solutions can be both beautiful, environmentally friendly and energy-efficient.

In the following part, we would like to present the most important products and how they were used in the project:

Fuzzy

As a floating light ring, it stands out thanks to its modern and elegant design. Installed as the central pendant luminaire it provides homogeneous direct lighting and attracts attention.

Lichtkanal 060

The combination of direct and indirect lighting creates a glare-free and pleasant atmosphere which is perfectly suited for workstations. In the individual offices that are separated by glass walls, Lichtkanal is a stylish element floating over the desks to provide light and, at the same time, indirect ceiling lighting.

ORYO

Euroled

In the Bunte & Klein building, Euroled is used to create homogeneous light on a large wall area. It is ideal for wall or shelf lighting but can also be used to present paintings or other pieces of art.

Flirr from the Flixx family

Both the round and the square version offer a particularly economical solution and can be quickly installed, as it was done in the Bunte & Klein training centre. The downlights provide pleasant indirect and glare-free basic lighting. A round version with a super-flat design is ideal for ceilings with lower installation depths. The Flixx series is available as a classical downlight and with a swiveling head to allow for a variety of design options. It is ideal for accentuation and general lighting.

The new Bunte & Klein GmbH company building project is proof of the versatility and capability of the wide range of LTS products. The smooth integration of decorative and functional lighting has brought about an aesthetically appealing concept that meets both user and technical requirements. The enthusiastic response from the owner and the users confirms the success of this project and shows that light is a central design element in architecture that helps achieve an outstanding overall result.
