LTS Excelles In Innovative Lighting Design

German Design Award 2019 for Filigree and Optico.

The German Design Award was awarded at the international consumer fair “Ambiente” on 8 February in Frankfurt/Main. After last year‘s success, LTS took home two awards this year also. Filigree and Optico luminaires have competed in the category “Lighting” against 288 other products.

The German Design Award is the highest official award in the field of design, which is presented by the prestigious German Design Council. An initiative of the German Bundestag, the committee has set itself with the task of promoting outstanding design concepts. With the German Design Award, this association has launched a competition to identify unique design trends. The highly esteemed, international jury honours manufacturers and designers who demonstrate ground breaking products and projects in German as well as in international markets.

LTS Licht & Leuchten GmbH has received the prize for outstanding design for the second time in a row. This year there are two product highlights on the winner‘s podium: the decorative Filigree series as well as the innovative Optico ceiling luminaire.

Optico convinced the jury with its intelligently solved design. It combines light and room acoustics in a modern system and thus opening up new possibilities for architects, planners and designers. The integrated acoustic-absorbing elements noticeably reduce environmental noise. At the same time, Optico offers the highest quality of light and glare-free illumination (UGR<15) and can be very easily integrated into existing ceilings. Thanks to these characteristics, it is particularly recommended for buildings with office and administrative spaces.

The Filigree series comes in different versions namely table, floor, recessed and pendant luminaires. Already in 2018 it won the Iconic Awards in the category “Innovative Interior”. The central design element is the novel lamp head with its revolutionary light ring. Thanks to its range of up to 60°, it is extremely flexible and can also be controlled by touch DIM. Filigree with its great performance is ideal for smallest space. The jury praises it on its “unmistakable identity”. The experts emphasize on the “beautiful design that becomes an eye-catcher with its clear flowing lines and geometric design”.

Receiving the German Design Award for the second time is a confirmation of an emotional and dynamic brand management strategy adopted by this lighting manufacturer based in Upper Swabia. “Of course, the award fills us with pride and at the same time motivates our team to continue and develop products, not only with powerful functionality but also thanks to their striking design they inspire enthusiasm among the customers”, says Michael Cappello, Managing Director of LTS.
