Interdisciplinary light community was founded

Lighting experts meets at LTS on Lake Constance.

The interior architect, designer and university lecturer Prof. Rudolf Schricker met up with lighting specialists from a wide range of disciplines to have a closer look and to define a new and innovative light awareness. The goal of the first light workshop has been to discover many perspectives and disciplines, to find joint interphases and to initiate a future-oriented collaboration.

Life needs light – but the right quantity at the right time, this is the conclusion of the new community around Prof. Schricker. At this point, the definitions “light balance” and “understanding of nature” have been discussed. The group has raised the questions how much light is appropriate, when light becomes harmful and from which limit light will become wasted and light smog will be produced. Therefore, the topic light pollution had its justification at the symposium as well. Together the participants came to the recognition that healthy light in the sector of education and further training is still missing out. Study programmes and curriculums would need to be adapted to meet the new requirements.

The results of the first Licht::Wirk::Shop (light workshop) have been noted down in a written summary. By means of the symbolism of a tree keywords have been defined as roots and basis, in the middle the tree trunk has been outlined as comprehensive understanding for lighting and the fruits have been pointed out in the form of plausible results. In order to point out the first meeting the community planted a light tree – a three meters high hawthorn with healthy red fruits.

From now on, the community is planning to meet up at least twice a year – always at the day-night balance. Host will be LTS. The experts want to talk about new technical and scientific findings, to discuss current issues and listen to various disciplines. The goal is an innovative light consciousness with a comprehensive input from all disciplines involved. Through the combination of the strengths of all parties involved new creative solutions for complex challenges shall be found – maybe through new activities between the participants even lighting ++solutions which have never existed before. The released creative energy shall be integrated into everyone’s day-to-day work to broaden the perspective on the subject light.
