Award-Winning Innovation: The nanoOptix Wallwasher

LTS receives the German Innovation Award 2022

The German Innovation Award honours outstanding innovations which break new ground by offering added value. The nanoOptix Wallwasher by LTS Licht & Leuchten GmbH achieved nothing less than that.

With great innovative research and ingenuity, LTS created the nanoOptix Wallwasher for a soft, absolutely homogeneous linear lighting pattern qualifying the nanoOptix portfolio for the Lichtkanal system. With an excellent efficiency of >120lm/W, the film is also suitable for use in eligible construction and conversion projects. It is highly efficient in two senses, not just in terms of energy consumption. Higher-level interior lighting quality, e.g. in the form of uniformly illuminated vertical surfaces, provides the basis for increased wellbeing, sharpened visibility and more comfortable working. The broad scope of application provides virtually unlimited possibilities in architectural lighting, depending on wall clearance and ceiling height.

This innovative power of LTS Licht & Leuchten GmbH “made in Tettnang – made in Germany” also convinced the German Innovation Award jury.

For the luminaire manufacturer based in the Upper Swabian Tettnang, this award confirms that innovative spirit and scientific curiosity pay off.

The German Innovation Award is presented by the German Design Council, one of the most important innovation authorities. The jury awards “Winner” projects that advance the entire industry with their originality, implementation and effectiveness. It consists of independent interdisciplinary technology and digitalization experts as well as experts with a scientific background or from associations and institutions. The submissions are evaluated based on criteria such as innovation level, user benefits and economic efficiency. The innovation strategy should consider aspects such as social, ecological and economic sustainability and the use of energy and resources.

Also factors like location and employment potential, durability, market maturity, technical quality and function, materiality and synergy effects play a decisive role in the jury’s evaluation and selection process. All of these criteria haven spoken for LTS and the nanoOptix Wallwasher, which was developed entirely in Tettnang near Lake Constance and is manufactured and assembled exclusively at their production location.
