Löfbergs Lila is a new member of the Haga Initiative

Press release -

Löfbergs Lila is a new member of the Haga Initiative

Löfbergs Lila is a new member of the company network Haga Initiative. The Haga Initiative consists of ten well-known companies: Axfood, Coca-Cola Enterprises Sverige, Fortum Värme, JM, Lantmännen, Procter& Gamble Sverige, Scan, Stena Metall, Svenska Statoil and Vasakronan. The Haga Initiative wants to reduce the carbon emissions of the business sector, highlight the climate issue as one of the most important future issues, and act as a role model for companies that take active responsibility for the climate.

Löfbergs Lila is working hard with sustainability issues both in the country of origin of coffee and at home. In its production, Löfbergs Lila is focusing on the energy among other things. Since 1991, Löfbergs Lila has doubled its production without increasing its power consumption. Since 2005, Löfbergs Lila has also gone from heating with oil to district heating as well as signing an agreement on wind power and by that decreased its climate impact per surface area with approximately 80 %.

- Sustainability work is an important part of our corporate responsibility and something we have been working with for a long time. It is partly about doing good, and partly about offering a product that attracts our consumers. The Haga Initiative gives us the opportunity to contribute with our knowledge at the same time as we get to know ten other well-known companies with a strong climate focus. Naturally, it is very stimulating, says Lars Appelqvist, CEO at Löfbergs Lila.

With the climate changes that the world faces, more participants need to act and the Haga Initiative gathers companies that are committed to a decreased climate impact in business. Löfbergs Lila has a goal to decrease its climate impact with 40 % till 2020, based on the level of 2005, which meets the high demands that the Haga Initiative has.

- With the strong brand of Löfbergs Lila, we have an even greater possibility to affect the corporate responsibility of the business. Not only do they take responsibility for the climate impact the company has in Sweden, but they are also working with the impact the farming of coffee beans has. This is in line with the challenge that companies have in the future, which means that you need to weigh in the climate impact both upstream and downstream in the value chain of the company, says Nina Ekelund, program director for the Haga Initiative.
