Press release -

Katarina Ljungqvist will be the new CEO of Kommuninvest

Katarina Ljungqvist has been appointed as the new CEO of Kommuninvest. She will on 1 April 2023 take over from current CEO Tomas Werngren, who in September announced his decision to leave the CEO position and prepare for retirement. He will now make an active handover to Katarina Ljungqvist where the operations will continue to be run at full speed.

Katarina Ljungqvist will, just like her predecessor, take on the role of CEO of both Kommuninvest Cooperative Society and Kommuninvest i Sverige AB.

Katarina Ljungqvist was educated at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg and has had a long career at Handelsbanken. She has, among other things, been the Head of Business Development in Sweden and the Head of Handelsbanken’s Regional Bank Western Sweden.

– It is with great joy and enthusiasm that I look forward to becoming part of Kommuninvest. I consider it an incredibly inspiring task to continue to develop well-run operations with a socially important mission together with talented employees, says Katarina Ljungqvist.

– We are glad to announce that Katarina Ljungqvist will take over as CEO of Kommuninvest Cooperative Society and Kommuninvest i Sverige AB. With her broad experience from the financial sector and with a deep understanding of the fact that the operations are being run for the customers, Katarina is exactly the right person to lead the further development of Kommuninvest, says Ellen Bramness Arvidsson, Chairman of the Board of Kommuninvest i Sverige AB.

– The welfare system needs to develop at a rapid pace. It is about securing innovation, quality and sustainability. In this, Kommuninvest, as a leading lender and membership organization, has an important role to play. Katarina Ljungqvist's solid competence in business development and change management will be a great asset, for both Kommuninvest and the municipal sector, in the development processes that will be carried out over the coming years, says Linda Frohm, Vice Chairman of the Board of Kommuninvest Cooperative Society.
