Havila Voyages confirms ABTA membership

Havila Voyages has finalized its membership of ABTA. Having met all the financial and regulatory criteria, the company officially became a member on 10th February.

Matthew Valentine, Head of Sales in the UK for Havila Voyages said “It’s been an exciting first year of operations, with two ships now operating and a further two ships being added to the fleet in 2023. Our travel agent colleagues have been incredibly supportive over this period and we also now have agreements in place with a number of UK tour operators.

He continues “We hope our membership of ABTA demonstrates that we recognize the importance of the UK travel trade in the future growth of our business. Consumers trust the ABTA brand and its code of conduct remains a very powerful selling tool, in particular giving them the financial reassurance to book.”

To help agents sell Havila Voyages, a new 32-page brochure has been produced giving detailed information about the ships, route and excursions.

Havila Voyages started operating cruises along the Norwegian coast in December 2021. The ships all follow the same route from Bergen to Kirkenes, before returning the same way. The twelve-day voyage sails through narrow fjords and open seas, past sheer cliffs and weather-beaten islets. Along the way, they pass through four UNESCO Heritage sites and cross the Arctic circle twice.

From its inception, Havila Voyages has focused on offering a more environmentally responsible way to travel and planned for a more sustainable future. To date it has invested more than £41 million in its existing technology and preparing its ships for the future.

The new ships feature the world's largest battery pack on a passenger ship, allowing them to sail quietly and emission free for up to 4 hours. The batteries can also be re-charged using clean hydropower at ports along the route.

Experience the best of Norway with the most environmentally friendly ships on the Norwegian coast

In December 2021 Havila Voyages started sailing the most environmentally friendly ships on the Norwegian coast between Bergen and Kirkenes. We sail through narrow fjords and on the high seas, past steep mountains and weathered islets, under the Northern Lights and the midnight sun.
