New omnidirectional outdoor luminaire from Fagerhult

Fagerhult are delighted to launch Lunova; a new exterior luminaire which provides a high level of visual comfort in areas such as pedestrian and bike paths, parks and other open areas which require a safe and welcoming environment.

Lunova was developed to address the demands for an increased sense of safety and security in cities outdoor areas. An innovative reflector and well hidden diodes produce a soft omnidirectional light that meets the eye indirectly for a glare-free, yet reassuringly lit space.

- Well luminated outdoor environments enable more people to spend time outdoors. It’s the presence of other people that allows us to feel safe, says Nils Stjernman, Product & Application Manager at Fagerhult.

Advancements in LED and lighting control technology have driven the requirements for ever increasing efficiency and both of these are at core of Lunova’s design. The luminaire is prepared for both existing and future lighting control systems, which can deliver up to 40 percent energy savings when compared with an existing installation, while additional prolonging the life expectancy of the light source.

- Even with exterior applications one of the great challenges of LED is managing the heat they produce while ensuring exceptional visual comfort. By integrating the heat sink in the spigot we can ensure a low operating temperature, which in turn means that the diodes also have a longer life, says Nils Stjernman.

Lunova is the result of a collaboration with Torbjörn Eliasson and Andreas Sture at White Design, combining their design flair with Fagerhults lighting knowledge.

Lunova can be mounted on diameter 60 mm or 76 mm post tops and fits along pedestrian and bicycle paths, parks and residential areas, playgrounds and school grounds.
