Faber-Castell expects 6% growth - Investments in sustainability, digitalisation and supply chain are part of a future-oriented corporate approach

The Faber-Castell Group expects sales growth of at least 6% year-on-year in the current 2021/22 financial year*. Profitability is also expected to rise as a result our increase in investments. In this last financial year, the global pandemic meant that the company experienced a currency-adjusted decline in turnover of around 10% compared to the previous year.

Leading by example - Nature Conservation Day (28 July)

Wood-cased pencils have been Faber Castell’s most important products since the company was founded in 1761. More than two billion pencils are produced every year. Faber-Castell is now able to cover up to 80 per cent of its wood requirements through its own forest management; all other wood purchased for pencil production comes from certified sustainable sources.

Faber-Castell wins German award for sustainability projects

Faber-Castell has won the “Deutscher Award für Nachhaltigkeitsprojekte 2021” (German Award for Sustainability Projects 2021) in the category "Equal Opportunities" for its Colour Grip charity set Children of the world. The award was presented this year for the first time by news channel ntv, DUP UNTERNEHMER and the German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ).

Faber-Castell will welcome Simon Hauser as the new CTO in September this year

The Supervisory Board of Faber-Castell AG has appointed Mr Simon Hauser (43) as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer. Mr Hauser will join the company on 1 September, taking over from Dr Hans-Kurt von Werder (56), whose Executive Board mandate will expire at the end of September 2021.

From Pine to Pencil - Made from timber, the drawing tools manufactured by Faber Castell are primarily sourced from the company’s own sustainable forests in Minas Gerais, Southeastern Brazil.

For almost four decades, the writing instruments specialist Faber-Castell has been operating its own tree plantations for pencil production In the southeast of Brazil, in the federal state of Minas Gerais. These forests are FSC-certified, thus managed in an ecologically and socially compatible fashion, while also hosting a habitat of native flora and fauna.

It was initiated in 1977 by the US Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association (WIMA) to highlight the influence of handwriting on our lives.
