European Outdoor Group announces Matt Gowar as President
At the European Outdoor Group’s (EOG) Extraordinary General Assembly held on November 27th, Matt Gowar, CEO and owner of Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd., was confirmed as the EOG President. Equip is the home of technical outdoor apparel and equipment brands Rab and Lowe Alpine. Matt was previously Vice President and succeeds outgoing President Mark Held, who helped found the group in 2003.
Matt’s focus will be on increasing collaboration across the industry by using his experience and learnings from Equip, to further strengthen the EOG and its opportunities to address the issues facing the industry today.
Equip, a certified Climate Neutral Company, is working towards an ambitious target to be Net Zero by 2030, and recently launched Material Facts to increase the transparency of sustainability data. Matt will be encouraging more EOG members to commit to similar clear metrics, data collaboration and reduction targets,sharing best practice and knowledge along the way.
Matt will start as he means to go on at ISPO Munich this week, by introducing Equip and the EOG at a joint session “A chance to do things better – A new approach to sustainability communications” at 9am Tuesday 29th November. This will be an opportunity to explore how brands and retailers can collaborate better in communicating product sustainability.
