Popular Secondhand Concept for Kids Opens on Chau. de Bruxelles 86 on August 24

Chau. de Bruxelles 86 is welcoming a brand-new type of store as the secondhand store Børneloppen opens its doors for buying and selling clothes and other items for children. Join the launch party on August 24.

The secondhand concept Børneloppen is now opening on Chau. de Bruxelles, where you can buy and sell secondhand items for kids, with private vendors able to reserve and rent space for selling their used goods. Børneloppen handles sales and customer service, while proceeds from sold items are automatically forwarded to the seller’s account.

After a few successful years of running Børneloppen in Liège, Gilles and Cassandre Jouret are opening their second Belgian store at their dream location.

– Waterloo is a popular shopping destination for many families especially due to the excellent parking facilities and short distance to Bruxelles and Brabant Wallon. So, when we got the opportunity to open a store on Chau de Bruxelles, we had to seize it. It’s an opportunity that doesn’t come often, and no other location can compete with the one we found, says Cassandre Jouret, who is delighted that people can now shop secondhand on the same street where they can buy a McLaren.

Børneloppen is a franchise chain originating in Denmark, where the 15-store chain is enormously popular. The franchise also has a store in Liège and one in Iceland, and they hope to expand further in Belgium and the Netherlands.

A Family Business

Since 2021, Cassandre Jouret has run Børneloppen in Liège with her partner Gilles. They fell in love with the concept through a friend in Denmark and contacted the chain to open the first Børneloppen in Belgium. It didn’t take long before they realized that the business could easily grow in the country.

– In Liège, we interacted with many customers from other regions, who asked when we would open a store near them. That certainly made us look around for locations in the Bruxelles area, says Cassandre Jouret.

– Børneloppen is a family business. Gilles and I love working together and we get a lot of support from friends and family. Even though running a business is hard work while also tending to small children, we simply love our daily life with the customers and our employees, and we look forward to fostering that same positive atmosphere in the new store, she adds.
