Good storage topping the wish list

What expectations do you have on your future home? Well, on top of most Swedes' list of requirements, are good possibilities for storage, a spacious kitchen and access to a garage. This is revealed in a recent consumer study.

In a consumer study conducted by Sifo, on behalf of Elfa, some 1300 Swedes were asked about what they wanted from their future home. It turns out, that the great majority (62%) placed the highest requirements on the storage facilities in their further home. Next came a spacious kitchen (60%) and then, in third place, the access to a garage.

- A general conclusion from this study is that good storage is becoming increasingly important to create a joyous home. That takes good space for storage, but also smart storage solutions that free up space for other things in life, says Christine Dalman, Storage Expert.

Mia Erlandsson, Architect and Interior architect at White Arkitekter, fully agrees. She also imagines that our future homes will play a greater role in how we live our lives. 

- When jobs and offices move in, more sophisticated foods are prepared and people grow their own food more and more, we become increasingly tied to our homes. This also means our homes will serve multiple roles. A room needs to be able to be used for multiple purposes instead of specifically as just a living room, says Mia as an example.

About the survey:

The study was conducted by Sifo on behalf of Elfa in March, 2022. In all, 1,303 interviews were conducted with men and women in Sweden aged 16 and over. The sample is representative of the Swedish population in terms of gender, age and region.
