EXPO WORLD LOGISTICS SPONSOR AN UNFORGETTABLE JOURNEY

Expo World logistics - the logistics partner of Elephant Parade - has sponsored an elephant for the UK national tour sponsored by intu.

The Expo Logistics team, responsible for transferring the elephant statues from city to city for the duration of the Elephant Parade tour, wanted to show their commitment to the projects aim of raising awareness and funds for Asian elephant conservation. Their choice of elephant to sponsor is Vicky Scott’s ‘Unforgettable journey’ a design that visually captures the 375 day journey that the elephants have embarked on – visiting 14 towns and cities across the UK. Lee, co-founder of Expo Logistics commented “ I have always been passionate about elephants and so when we were approached to get involved it seemed like fate. We were keen to be part of what promised to be an inspirational and unforgettable tour and it made sense for us to sponsor Vicky’s design.”

Vicky worked with Expo Logistics to develop a design that would capture the literalness of the tour – the multiple cities, the individuals involved and the longevity of the tour all contributed to the final design ‘Unforgettable Journey.’ Throughout the design are fleeting references to different components of the tour, “I wanted to tell the story of the Elephant Parade tour, showing a collection of elephants marching their way across the country. Apart from getting in some of the UK's famous city landmarks, I also wanted to get across some local quirks and humour (spot the ele in the London cab and one elephant playing football in Manchester)” explained Vicky.

The elephant has been with the herd since the preview at London’s Kings Cross and was painted at the intu Headquarters -40 Broadway- in London in full sight of the intu staff.

Mike Spits, founder for Elephant Parade commented “In the past when the parade has been located in just one city we have always included a map/city elephant, however we wanted to do things a bit differently this time especially as the tour is moving around so many different cities. Vicky’s design captured the essence of a number of the key places the elephants are visiting as well as encapsulating the very nature of the tour – the journey the elephants are taking. We are delighted that her design so succinctly conveys the 2013/14 tour.”

As the design captured the very essence of the Elephant Parade tour it was sold even before the tour began and will be handed over to its owners once the tour finishes in August of 2014.
