Student Exchange Australia New Zealand Launches 1:1 Impact: Giving Youth a Role in Global Change

[Sydney - January 28, 2025] – Student Exchange Australia New Zealand, part of Educatius Group, is proud to announce the launch of 1:1 Impact, an initiative that empowers exchange students from Australia & New Zealand to actively contribute to global causes as part of their high school exchange experience.

For the first time, students can choose how their program supports one of three transformative projects:

🌟 1:1 Student – Fund a year of schooling for one student in The Gambia.

🌟 1:1 Teacher – Support the salary of a special needs teacher in Tanzania.

🌟 1:1 Soccer Field of Trees – Responsibly plant the equivalent of one soccer field of trees in Tanzania.

This innovative program builds on Educatius’ long-standing commitment to global education, sustainability, and empowerment. What makes it unique is that students themselves are now at the center of this decision-making process.

Inspiring a Generation That Cares

Today’s youth are looking for ways to align their personal values with their educational experiences. According to recent research, 79% of European Gen Z prioritize organizations with strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments.

“Students today want to act in accord with their values,” said James Crimp, National Director of Student Exchange Australia New Zealand. “1:1 Impact transforms their exchange journey into a platform for creating real, positive change. Their individual experience becomes more than just a cultural and academic adventure—it becomes a force for good, reaching far beyond their own lives.”

A Legacy of Global Impact

The initiatives supported by 1:1 Impact are part of a long history of meaningful contributions through Aiducatius, Educatius’ charitable arm:

  • Since 2009, thousands of students in The Gambia have gained access to life-changing education at St. Martin’s Basic Cycle School.
  • Gabriella Children Rehabilitation Centre in Tanzania has received essential support for qualified special needs teachers since 2022.
  • Since 2009, thousands of acres of trees have been responsibly planted in rural Tanzania, combating deforestation and protecting local communities.

These projects have positively impacted countless lives—and now, exchange students from Australia & New Zealand can become direct contributors to these vital efforts.

How It Works

The 1:1 Impact initiative is seamlessly integrated into the student journey. Once enrolled with Student Exchange Australia New Zealand, students select the initiative they wish to support and receive updates throughout their exchange program, giving them a clear connection to the lives and communities they are helping.

Student Exchange Australia New Zealand will also showcase the ongoing progress of these projects through local media, social media campaigns, and updates, ensuring that students, families, and communities are engaged in the impact being made.

Why It Matters

This initiative redefines what it means to study abroad. It transforms exchange programs into purpose-driven education, empowering youth to become agents of change while gaining cultural and academic insights.
