Dustin to invest in a greener warehouse – installing solar cell facility and LED armatures

Dustin is now installing a solar cell facility covering just over 2,400 square metres at its central warehouse outside Stockholm, which serves the entire Nordic market. In addition, all of the old light fittings in the 20,000 square metre production hall are being replaced by new, modern and smart LED armatures. These initiatives are part of Dustin’s sustainability target of achieving zero climate impact across the value chain by 2030.

Dustin expects the solar cell facility to provide the warehouse with 405,000 kilowatt hours of renewable energy per year, corresponding to 30 per cent of electricity consumption. The new LED armatures will also reduce electricity consumption by 30 per cent. The installation of the solar cell facility and the new LED armatures will result in Dustin only needing to purchase electricity equivalent to 30 per cent of its current electricity use in the warehouse.

“We are working continuously on making the warehouse even more climate smart. This is an important step toward our sustainability target of achieving zero climate impact across the value chain by 2030. By taking these actions, we are contributing to the production of new green electricity. We are working in a dedicated manner to reduce emissions in the areas we can directly impact in our value chain,” says Henrik Lampa, Head of Sustainability at Dustin.

Dustin is also a part of the Axel Johnson Group’s major investment in the construction of Sweden’s largest solar park, leading to more than a doubling of the country’s solar park portfolio.

The solar cells on the central warehouse will be put into operation in November. The property is owned by the logistics properties developer Logicenters, and Swede Energy constructed and installed the solar cell facility.

“It feels great that we can now deploy the solar cell facility. This is especially true given that we have carried out this project with Logicenters, which is an exciting company with ambitious sustainability targets. The solar-energy installation is further evidence of Dustin’s proactive work to reduce its climate impact,” says Markus Duseus, Regional Manager at Soltech Energy Solutions.
