Dustin increases pace of warehouse activities with new robot solution
Dustin, one of the leading e-retailers in the Nordic region, has invested in a warehouse robot solution. The robot solution will improve the level of customer service by reducing handling times in the warehouse and will have the capacity to process 1,600 orderlines per hour, equivalent to 75 per cent of all customer orders.
To increase efficiency and further digitalise its operations, Dustin came to a decision last autumn to scale up logistics and invest in a robot solution at its central warehouse in Rosersberg, north of Stockholm. Installation of the robot system began in February and is now completed and in operation.
Almost 60 robots collect goods from 35,000 trays in a 1,300-square-metre warehouse space, with a 25 per cent improvement in efficiency. The robot system also frees up a storage volume of 8,000 cubic metres, providing Dustin with 15 per cent more warehouse capacity.
“The automated warehouse will enable us to continue to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction. For example, we can now handle orders later in the day and thereby shorten delivery times to Nordic customers. An efficient and automated logistics concept is also a key success factor in retaining and strengthening our leading position in the market and to continue to create growth,” says Jenny Ring, EVP Supply Chain at Dustin.
The system chosen by Dustin is called AutoStore. The solution was supplied by Element Logic.
“AutoStore is highly suited to e-commerce and this particular model is ideal for Dustin. We have a very large range of products comprising about 255,000 items, and most of these are relatively small,” says Jenny Ring.
“We are very proud to have delivered this solution, which will reinforce Dustin’s position as a market leader and we look forward to a long-term collaboration moving forward,” concludes Thomas Karlsson, CEO of Element Logic in Sweden.
