Kvasir signs MoU with Spanish EPC Duro Felguera

Copenhagen, 28 October, 2021

Kvasir and Duro Felguera have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on the construction of a biofuel plant in Spain.

Duro Felguera is a globally recognized EPC with more than 20 years of experience in building power plants and other large infrastructure projects, it’s listed on the stock exchange in Madrid and employs more than 1100 employees.

Kvasir has developed a one step process to convert lignocellulose into a marine biofuel which can be used as a direct replacement for fossil fuel oil.

Building on Kvasir’s technology and Duro Felgueras EPC experience the parties will build a biomass-to-liquid plant in the northern Spanish region of Asturias that will process agricultural residues into marine biofuel.

Change the fuel. Not the Engine.

Kvasir Technologies is a Danish company that has developed a game-changing technology to produce climate friendly fuel for hard to abate industries. Kvasir converts non-edible waste-based biomass into a 1:1 substitute for fossil fuel in a simple, sustainable, and scalable way. This allows for full flexibility in terms of handling both existing fossil fuels and green biofuel interchangeably in a seamless transition towards complete decarbonization. Founded in 2018 by Joachim B. Nielsen and Anders B. Kristoffersen, Kvasir is a spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark. The company runs pilot activities in Denmark and in the US and plans to build its first demo plant in Fredericia, Denmark.
