HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series: A New Standard in Wearable Design, Health Tracking and Pro-Level Sports

Barcelona, 19 September 2024– Huawei today announced the launch of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series at the HUAWEI Innovative Product Launch in Barcelona.

Available in Pro or Standard editions, the 5th generation of smartwatch continues to embody the best of the HUAWEI GT Series legacy – aesthetics and performance. The smartwatch series sports a sharp-edged design, with elevated craftmanship and material technology, and now come powered by a high-performing battery lasting up to 2 weeks[1].

The smartwatch series also boasts the all-new HUAWEI TruSense System, an integrated health and fitness tracking technology that comes with an upgraded sensor and improved algorithms, producing results that are faster, more accurate, and more comprehensive.

HUAWEI Sunflower Positioning System also enables a whole new way to navigate your outdoor sports adventures, bringing a more accurate and optimised GNSS tracking mechanism. This allows for an all-new running and cycling experience across all smartwatch models of the WATCH GT 5 series. Additionally, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro models support pro-level sports tracking such as golf, trail running, and freediving, equipping dedicated enthusiasts in their progress and performance.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series smartwatches are also fully compatible with Android and iOS smartphones[2], giving a wider audience the chance to experience Huawei’s latest health technology innovations and sports tracking features.

Durable, Sharp-Edged Design: Aerospace Grade Titanium Alloy and Nanocrystal Ceramic

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro 46mm and 42mm are made with aerospace grade titanium alloy and nanocrystal ceramic, both of which are premium materials developed through complex engineering processes.

This produces higher levels of durability as compared to previous editions, ensuring the watch’s ability to withstand day-to-day activities. Whether it’s a fitness sessions in the gym or a night out with friends, the smartwatch is a stylish and versatile companion made for everyday activities.

HUAWEI TruSense System: A Deeper Look into Health and Fitness Data

HUAWEI TruSense System upgrades health and fitness tracking with improvements to modules and algorithms. It enhances signal reading accuracy when detecting heart rate, blood oxygen, and respiratory rate, providing more comprehensive monitoring indicators even during fitness activities and varying climates.

HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro Edition also comes with an ECG analysis feature through electrode-based ECG button. With just one push, users can get their ECG waveforms within 30 seconds.[3]

Powered by new technological advancements from HUAWEI Sunflower Positioning System, HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series users can enjoy more in-depth tracking of various sports to boost their performance and track their progress.

Avid runners will be able to look forward to run-focused features available across all HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series models such as Running Form Analysis, which provides tips to help you fine-tune your running posture and prevent injury.

For more technical runners, HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro introduces a professional trail running[4]feature for cross-country runners. The feature supports segment-based navigation, off-course alerts, contour lines, and crown-controlled zoomable maps[5]. Cross country racers can also get their hands-on, real-time fitness data and trail information, all of which are beamed directly to their wrist.

HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro also adds new golf features such as the 3D views of Course Maps[6], which adds 15,000+ Global golf course maps to the watch, on top of a full range of analytical features to help improve your swing in the driving range or measure your shot distance while you’re on course.

HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro is also fit for water activities, with water resistance that ensures up to 40 metres of freediving[7]. Coupled with a depth tracker and reminders, diving enthusiasts can enjoy added assurance and guidance when diving undersea.

HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro 46 mm: The battery can last for up to 14 days at most, up to 9 days given typical usage, or up to 5 days with AOD enabled.

HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro 42 mm: The battery can last for up to 7 days at most, up to 5 days given typical usage, or up to 3 days with AOD enabled.

The maximum battery life is tested under the following conditions: default factory settings used, 30 minutes of Bluetooth calling per week, 30 minutes of audio playback per week, heart rate monitoring always on, sleep monitoring enabled at night, 90 minutes of exercise on average per week, message notifications enabled (50 messages, 6 calls, and 3 alarms per day), and the device screen turned on 200 times per day.

The typical battery life is tested under the following conditions: default factory settings used, 30 minutes of Bluetooth calling per week, 30 minutes of audio playback per week, heart rate monitoring always on, sleep monitoring enabled at night, stress monitoring enabled, 180 minutes of exercise on average per week, message notifications enabled (50 messages, 6 calls, and 3 alarms per day), and the device screen turned on for a total of 30 minutes per day.

The battery life with AOD enabled is tested under the following conditions: default factory settings used, Always On Display (AOD) enabled, 30 minutes of Bluetooth calling per week, 30 minutes of audio playback per week, heart rate monitoring always on, sleep monitoring enabled at night, stress monitoring enabled, 180 minutes of exercise on average per week, message notifications enabled (50 messages, 6 calls, and 3 alarms per day), and the device screen turned on for a total of 30 minutes per day.

Then open the Workout app on your watch, enter the Trail run settings screen, touch "Routes", find your target route, and start your run. To use map-based routes, you'll need to download the corresponding offline map and contour lines from the Huawei Health app on your phone and sync the info to your watch. Then initiate an outdoor session from the Workout app on your watch, wait for positioning to work, and swipe up or down on the data cards to view the map-based route with contour lines.

[5] To use this feature, you'll need to download the corresponding offline map in the Huawei Health app, initiate an outdoor workout session from the Workout app on your watch, enable GNSS, and wait for the GNSS to start working and for the positioning to be successful. [7] This product complies with 5 ATM-rated water resistance under the ISO 22810:2010 standard, which indicates that the device can withstand up to 50 metres of static water pressure for 10 minutes, but does not mean that the product is water-resistant in water that is 50-metre deep.

The product also complies with the IP69K rating under the ISO 20653:2023 standard. The IPX9K test conditions are as follows: water temperature: 80 ± 5°C; water flow: 15 ± 1 L/min; water pressure: 10,000 ± 500 kPa; spray angle: 0°, 30°, 60°, and 90°, 30 seconds for each angle.

The product complies with the EN13319 standard for diving accessories, and supports free dives at depths of up to 40 metres. It can be worn during shallow water activities such as swimming in a pool or along the coast. After wearing the device in water activities, clean and dry it promptly, remove the water stains from the product surfaces and all holes, and use the device's drainage feature to avoid negative impact on device performance.

The product should not be worn in the following scenarios: (Damage to the device caused by immersion in liquid is not covered by the warranty if the device is worn in an inappropriate scenario.) (1) Hot showers, hot springs, saunas (steam rooms), and other activities in high-temperature and/or high-humidity environments. (2) Activities that could expose the device to shower gel, shampoo, soapy water, and any other laundry or cleaning products. If the device does come into contact with any such product, rinse and soak the device in fresh water for 30 minutes. (3) Scuba dives, technical dives, and diving activities at depths greater than 40 metres. (4) Composite vegan leather, composite woven, titanium, and ceramic straps are not designed for water activities (such as swimming) or to withstand sweat, and therefore it is recommended that other straps be used in such scenarios.

Water resistance is not permanent, and performance may deteriorate with daily wear and tear. It is recommended that you regularly take your device to an authorised Huawei service center for inspection and maintenance.
