Marrakech to host the 3rd edition of the World Power-to-X Summit

Morocco has taken remarkable steps toward establishing itself as a regional leader and an African hub in the hydrogen sector.

Marrakech - The global renewable energy community is set to gather in Marrakech, Morocco, for the highly anticipated 3rd edition of the World Power-to-X Summit. This prestigious event, a cornerstone for the green hydrogen industry in Africa, will take place from September 19-20, under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, and the auspices of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Organized by the Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN), the GreenH2 Cluster, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), and in partnership with the Regional Council of Guelmim Oued Noun and Industrie du Maroc Magazine, the World Power-to-X Summit has firmly established itself as the leading platform for dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in the green hydrogen sector.

The importance of this year’s summit cannot be overstated. It comes at a time when the world is grappling with an energy crisis, exacerbated by global tensions and shifting geopolitics.

At the national level, Morocco has taken a bold step toward sustainable energy. King Mohammed VI has issued high instructions to implement a forward-looking “Morocco Offer” for green hydrogen, which aims to position Morocco as a regional leader and an African hub in the hydrogen sector by leveraging its natural assets, strategic vision, and international partnerships.

Building upon the success of the second edition, which attracted over 500 participants, including 90 speakers from 31 countries, this year’s event promises to be even more ambitious. With an expected turnout of 1000 participants, 170 expert speakers, 35 sessions, and 5 side events, the summit offers a comprehensive program that delves deep into the power-to-x value chain.

Topics include production, conversion, storage, distribution, regulatory and financial aspects, infrastructure, and more. The exhibition aspect of the summit will also be expanded, showcasing cutting-edge innovations and solutions in the field of green energy.

A key feature of the summit is its emphasis on networking. Stimulating sessions are designed to facilitate connections with industry experts and influential decision makers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.

In a show of resilience and determination, the organizers of the World Power-to-X Summit have decided to go ahead with the event despite the recent tragic earthquake that struck Morocco on September 8th, causing significant loss of life and extensive damage. The organizers have extended their deepest condolences to the affected families and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.

They expressed their solidarity with all those affected by this natural disaster and said that maintaining the summit can contribute to the recovery and reconstruction efforts.

The 3rd edition of the World Power-to-X Summit promises to be a pivotal moment in the journey towards a sustainable energy future, with Morocco poised to play a leading role in the green hydrogen revolution in Africa and beyond.
